Have you always wanted to try yoga but not sure what level will suit you? Are you on a tight budget and keen to join a class that is great value for money? Co.As.It. Community Services is running three yoga classes at Amici House in Bracken Ridge for only $5 per class (Sold as a Book of 4 Classes = $20). Amici House is located at 294 Bracken Ridge Road, Bracken Ridge and has plenty of parking on-site. There are three classes to choose from:
- Multi-Level Chair Yoga from 9.15am to 10.15am – Fridays
- Gentle Mat Yoga from 10.30am to 11.30am – Fridays
- Multi-Level Mat Yoga from 11.45am to 12.45pm – Fridays
Multi-Level Chair Yoga
Enjoy all the benefits of yoga while seated. Absolute beginners are very welcome as are those that prefer a seated class with multi-level options. A gentle class with a range of yoga postures and practises with a therapeutic theme. Sessions include a breathing exercise, guided meditation or mindfulness technique. Regular yoga practice can relieve stiff joints, reduce muscle tension, improve your mobility, core strength, circulation, co-ordination, posture and balance.
Gentle Mat Yoga
Gentle mat yoga requires participants to lie down on yoga mat and get up and down off the floor for simple standing poses. Optional use of a chair to lean on for standing poses. You’ll be guided through a range of yoga postures and practices with a therapeutic theme. Sessions include a breathing exercise, guided meditation or mindfulness technique. Regular yoga practice can relieve stiff joints, reduce muscle tension, improve your mobility, core strength, circulation, co-ordination, posture and balance. Please bring a yoga mat and a bath towel to rest your head on when lying down. This class is held at our undercover area when weather permits; easy-to-move-in layered clothing is advised to stay at a comfortable temperature.
Multi-Level Mat Yoga
More challenging than the Gentle Mat Yoga Class but with multi-level options. This is the class for you if you can get up and down off the floor with ease, lie on your back, sides, front and perhaps kneel and sit for a short period on the mat. Offering a different therapeutic theme each week, you’ll be guided through a range of yoga postures and practises including a breathing exercise, guided meditation or mindfulness technique. Regular yoga practice can relieve stiff joints, reduce muscle tension, improve your mobility, core strength, circulation, co-ordination, posture and balance. Please bring a yoga mat and a bath towel to rest your head on when lying down. Amici House is a re-purposed gospel chapel on Bracken Ridge Road that has received a new life as a community hub and café. The centre runs weekly community activities for seniors, community members and NDIS groups, including yoga classes, art classes, women’s groups, podiatry, physiotherapy and latin dancing. The centre is a hub for the Brighton, Shorncliffe, Bracken Ridge, Deagon, Boondall communities and beyond. Boasting over 300 visitors weekly and 5 star reviews.
You don’t need any experience, just comfy clothes, comfy shoes, and a willingness to learn something new. The classes are run by a professional yoga teacher who will help you get ‘zen’ in no time.
