Social Group Activity Centres

The purpose of the Social Group Activity (SGA) Centres is to provide activities and social connections for culturally and linguistically diverse people in the community.  Age, social isolation, disability, and inability to participate in other activities are just some of the difficulties some people face every day.

Co.As.It.’s Social Group Activity Centres are a part of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) which is funded by the Federal Department of Health. Participants are provided with transport, a broad range of structured activities, and a home-style cooked meal.

The centre provides group-based activities promoting physical exercises, cognitive stimulation and emotional wellbeing.

Our SGA centres operate from four locations throughout Brisbane. Stafford Heights, Acacia Ridge, Cleveland, and Amici House at Bracken Ridge. As well as at the Italo Australian Club at Clear Island Waters, Gold Coast.

Clients are picked up from their homes and offered morning tea and lunch and the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities such as crafts, gentle exercises, theme days, visits from the local kindergarten, musical sing-a-longs and social connections.

Our bilingual and bicultural workers are invaluable in delivering a meaningful service that caters to clients with diverse languages and cultures.

Carers can be assured that their loved ones will spend a day participating in various activities run by our experienced staff.  A contribution is required to participate in this activity.

Eligibility

As with all Commonwealth Home Support Program services, access to services is provided following an assessment organised by My Aged Care (1800 200 422).  Co.As.It. will provide assistance and guidance in organising this assessment.
