BRACKEN Ridge has a unique Community Hub, Amici House, at 294 Bracken Ridge Road. The former gospel chapel received a new life as a café and community facility thanks to Co.As.It. Community Services. Opening day of the facility on 8 May, 2021 – the Hon. Grace Grace MP, Minister for Education, Industrial Relations and Racing, praised the “wonderful” centre, noting the quality of service Co.As.It. has been providing to the community for more than 40 years, including to her own parents. Amici House is the latest centre owned and operated by Co.As.It. Community Services.
Amici House runs activities and services for seniors and members of the community such as yoga classes, art classes, women’s groups, technology classes, latin dancing, NDIS art classes and health services such as podiatry and physiotherapy. The centre is a hub for the Brighton, Shorncliffe, Bracken Ridge, Deagon, Boondall communities and beyond. The centre has plenty of on-site parking, full disability access and amenities, a safe drop-off zone and free tours for all new visitors.
Amici House Community Café offers delicious Italian arancini, lasagne, quiches, salads and panini as well as favourites such as scones, cakes and muffins. The range of coffees is extensive, all day options, and delicious smoothies are also on offer. The café is set in the beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding Amici House and has a massive breezy deck for all to enjoy. Open from 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.
